Learning Here Project honors educators, volunteers

As part of a Learn Here Project showcasing the educational system in Southwest Washington, leaders from throughout business, education and the community joined to honor 21 educators and volunteers who were honored for their personal dedication and innovative spirit. Each was presented a plaque recognizing them as a “Real Hero.” Those honored include:

* Clark County: Al Bauer, volunteer; Chef Aaron Guerra, staff
* International Air and Hospitality Acadamy: Chef JD Thomas, staff
* Battle Ground: Sue Cranke, volunteer; Stephanie Etulain, staff
* Camas: Bruce Whitefield, volunteer; Monica Winkley, staff
* Evergreen: Linda Morehouse, volunteer; Peggy Carlson, staff
* Hockinson: Betsy Oliverio, volunteer; Kim Abegglen, staff
* La Center: Christopher Evans, volunteer; Brian Zylstra, staff
* Ridgefield: Dawn Gaspar, volunteer; Chris Poppert, staff
* Vancouver: Mick and Marlee Hawthorne, volunteers; Steve Vance, staff
* Washougal: Chuck Carpenter, volunteer; Les Brown, staff

The project is supported by Real Living, The Real Estate Group, Northwest Capital Mortgage and the Port of Vancouver USA. It is part of the Land Here, Live Here business growth initiative created and coordinated by the non-profit business leaders’ group Identity Clark County.
