Christmas at Fort Vancouver Dec. 13

Friends and families can experience the sights and sounds of the 1840s fur trade Christmas season this Saturday, Dec. 13, at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The celebration is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Regular admission rates apply: $3 for adults; free for youth 15 and under. Activities in the reconstructed Fort Vancouver include Christmas caroling by the Madrigal Singers, and hands on activities for kids. Visitors will enjoy family friendly games of the 1840’s, culinary demonstrations in the kitchen and in the Blacksmith Shop. Black powder weapon demonstrations are set for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Stop by the beautifully adorned Marshall House for photo opportunities with Santa from noon to 2 p.m. Guests may have their family photo taken in front of the Victorian Christmas tree or on the grand staircase in this circa-1886 home on Officers Row. There is no admission fee. The Fort Vancouver Visitor Center will have free hot cider and cookies.
