Master Gardeners present “Urban Lumber: The Future of Forestry” this evening

Monday, November 30, 2015

03cde1af3bad243ee9fb90d8e5361cf4_400x400Every year in the United States an estimated four billion board feet of usable lumber from urban trees is turned into firewood, shredded for mulch, or simply taken to the landfill to rot. This is a loss of many billions of dollars in economic activity. The Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County will host a presentation: “Urban Lumber: The Future of Forestry” with David Barmon, at 7 p.m. tonight, Dec. 1. Barmon co-owns Fiddlehead LLC, a sustainable landscape construction company and is a partner in Epilogue LLC, a company that mills urban trees in to lumber. He will talk about how to save current trees from the landfill and chip yard as well as share his vision for the future to retool our urban forestry system. The presentation will be held in the CASEE Center Bld. B, Rm. 202/205, 11104 NE 149th  St., Brush Prairie. The event is free and no registration required. To learn more, visit www.mgfcc.com.
