Vancouver native Mark C. Reis, now a resident of Los Angeles, has recently been nominated for “Best Male Cabaret Artist” by the Broadway World Los Angeles Awards for his one-man show, Diapers, Dishes and Dreams…Stories of a Dancer. Reis also teaches, performs, and choreographs, and is the author of a children’s book, A Smile for EveryoneReis, son of Vancouver residents Tom and Gerrie Reis, began his career with the local Claudette Walker School of Dance and the Vancouver Peanut Gallery. To vote for Reis, click here. William Stafford’s birthday commemorated at Cover to Cover Books Jan. 12

A poetry reading celebrating and commemorating the birthday of one of America’s most important poets, William Stafford, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, beginning at 4 p.m., at Cover to Cover Books. The event is jointly sponsored by the Friends of William Stafford and Printed Matter Vancouver. Featured readers Carolyn Rose Ham and Jim Martin will read a poems by Stafford as well as some of their own poems written in the spirit of Stafford’s work. Afterward, members of the audience will be invited to read one of their favorite Stafford poems. We will also be joined by Friends of William Stafford board member Tim Barnes. Cover to Cover Books is located at 6300 NE St. James Rd., Suite 104B (St. James & Minnehaha) in Vancouver. Clark College Transfer Fair Jan. 15

Interested parties are welcome to attend a Transfer Fair to be held at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver, Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair is designed for students that are planning to transfer and would like more information about the options available. Representatives from dozens of colleges and universities from across the Northwest and beyond will be on hand to offer information and answer questions about the transfer process. Port of Camas-Washougal Commissioners meeting Jan. 8

The Port of Camas-Washougal will hold a commission meeting Tuesday Jan. 8, at the Port Meeting Room, 24 South A St. in Washougal. The executive session begins at 4 p.m. and the open public meeting will begin at 5 p.m.
