“Columbia River Concours d’Elegance” Aug. 5 features maintained, restored vintage cars

The Rotary Club of Vancouver Metro Sunset, along with the Rotary Club of West Linn is hosting the  “Columbia River Concours d’Elegance” along Officers’ Row in Vancouver on Sunday, Aug. 5. The show runs from  9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Concourse d’Elegance features automobiles of all makes and models that were manufactured prior to 1974 and remain in their original condition or have been restored to original condition.

Classic and collectible marques include such famous names as Jaguar, Bentley, Cord, Mercedes Benz, Alfa Romeo, Austin Healey, MG, Porche, Triumph, Cadillac, Corvette, Lincoln, Morgan, and a host of others. As an added attraction, the world’s oldest competition Ferrari will be on display.

This fundraiser will provide funds to support both local and international projects to improve the lives and health of people in our community and abroad. Sponsors for this year’s event include Hagerty Insurance, Keith Martin’s Sports Car Market, The Oregonian, The Columbian, Battery Systems Inc., and Griot’s Garage. Tickets can be purchased at the show for $12 or in advance online for $10 atwww.columbiariverconcours.com.

“Gifts from Our Ancestors” exhibit runs now through August 22 at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center

The “Gifts from Our Ancestors” (GOA) is an arts education program led by the Confluence Project. It showcases a rotating selection of over 150 individual pieces of student-created art, from ceramic masks and salmon sculptures to stop-motion animations and theatrical costumes. The project has successfully engaged over 1,500 student throughout the Columbia Gorge region, bringing in Native artists, craftspeople, and cultural ambassadors to 15 schools and after-school programs in Oregon and Washington. The GOA travels to three different venues throughout the region this year, starting with the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center from July 26 through August 22. It then moves to the Maryhill Museum of Art September 16, and finally to Columbia Center for the Arts November 27.

SunModo opens new facility; hosts open house this Friday

Come celebrate SunModo‘s expansion into a new facility at an open house this Friday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The celebration includes a BBQ lunch reception, a new products launch, and exciting raffle prizes. Local elected officials, partners from Columbia River Economic Development Council and representatives from local chambers of commerce will also be there. SunModo organized this event in order to honor their staff, partners, suppliers, and customers whose loyalty and patience have made the move possible. “Our rapid growth in the solar business, we owe to our employees and to our loyal customers,” says Tony Liu, founder and president. The new facility is located adjacent to the Vancouver Historic Reserve at 1905 E 5th St., Suite A-D, Vancouver.
