Camas Athletics Booster Club hosts “Cinco de Casino” fundraiser May 5

The Camas Athletics Booster Club (CABC) invites the community to “Cinco de Casino,” at Casa de Westlie—that is, Westlie Ford at 115 S. First St. in Washougal—on Saturday, May 5. The evening will raise funds to support Camas School District’s athletic programs. Westlie Ford and Riverview Bank are VIP event sponsors, with additional sponsorship from Brown’s Funeral Home, Lacamas Flowers & Events, Dr. Martens Airwair USA, Washougal Sport & Spine, Blairco Heating, Shanahan Insurance, Grocery Outlet, Lacamas Credit Union, and Camas Vision & Downtown Vision Centers.

Tickets are $35 per person, or $45 after tomorrow. The ticket price includes hearty appetizers and start-up gaming script. Poker tournament registration is $30 per person. CABC supports athletic programs in the Camas School District. CABC offers scholarship programs, team equipment upgrades, tournament attendance, uniforms, and student participation financial aid assistance. CABC is made up of a volunteer board of parents, community partners, and school district employees.

Battle Ground “Stuffs the Bus” on May 5

This Saturday, May 5, Battle Ground-area residents will have a convenient way of helping north county’s needy families. “Stuff the Bus” food drives are set for the Fred Meyer and Albertson’s parking lots from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Battle Ground Fred Meyer is located at 401 N.W. 12th Ave., and Albertsons is located at 2108 W. Main St.

The Battle Ground Public School Employees Union (PSE) is sponsoring the event, with a school bus at each of the Battle Ground stores that day. PSE represents the school district’s “classified” employees, including teacher aides, custodians, maintenance workers and secretaries. Other sponsors include the following: Albertsons and Fred Meyer; Petermann Northwest, the Battle Ground School District’s transportation contractor; students and parents from River HomeLink school; the Battle Ground High School ROTC; and students from CAM Jr.-Sr. High and Prairie High School.

Area residents are encouraged to drop off donations of non-perishable food, paper products, and personal hygiene items to volunteers, who will put the items in a school bus that will deliver them to the North County Community Food Bank (NCCFB). Cash donations also are welcome. Checks to North County Community Food Bank may be left with a volunteer on May 5 or mailed to the food bank at P.O. Box 2106, Battle Ground, WA 98604. Food donations are always needed at the food bank, 17 N.E. Third Ave., Battle Ground. For more information about NCCFB, call 360-687-5007.
