Four surgeons at Rebound named Best Doctors

Dr. Mark Colville

 

Drs. Mark Colville, Jay Crary, Gregory Gramstad, and Scott Woll, of Rebound Orthopedic and Neurosurgery  were awarded 2011-2012 Best Doctors in America by Boston-based Best Doctors, Inc.

This award is determined by a confidential peer-to-peer survey conducted by Best Doctors, Inc. of over 50,000 doctors nationally. Once a physician is nominated, Best Doctors, Inc. further evaluates the nominee’s credentials, disciplinary actions, and clinical activity. Only three to five percent of doctors practicing in the United States are selected for inclusion in this list.

Colville is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee, shoulder, and sports medicine. He recieved this award from 1996-2000 and again from 2007 to the present. Colville is the official team physician for the Portland Winterhawks, Portland State University Athletics, and Concordia University Athletics.

Dr. Jay Crary

 

Crary is an orthopedic surgeon with a sub-specialty interest in foot and ankle conditions. Prior to this year’s win, Dr. Crary was awarded Best Doctor in America in 2007-2008.

Dr. Gregory Gramstad

 

Gramstad is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery.

Dr. Scott Woll

 

Woll has won this award annually since 1996. He is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in problems of the foot and ankle and was one of the first physicians in the Pacific Northwest to focus on complex foot reconstructive surgery.

Rebound is an orthopedic and neurosurgery clinic in Portland and Southwest Washington with offices at Southwest Washington Medicine Center, Legacy Salmon Creek, and Portland’s Rose Quarter. Rebound’s physicians are all board certified or board eligible with fellowship training in the areas of orthopedics, neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, sports medicine, and hand surgery.

Clark College Communication Studies Department honored

The Clark College Communication Studies Department has been awarded the 2011 Western States Model Communication Program Award of the Western States Communication Association (WSCA). The award will be presented during the 2011 WSCA Convention, which will be held in Monterey, Calif. in February.

The award is based on criteria including service to students, the program, institution and the community, use of best practices for teaching, and communication in the discipline.

“Receiving this award demonstrates the strength of the Communication Studies Department—the programs we develop, the curriculum we design and the innovations we all bring to helping students achieve success in their oral communication skills. This award also illustrates the commitment both full- and part-time faculty bring to the Communication Studies Department,” said Division Chair Roxane Sutherland.

The WSCA is a nonprofit educational association of scholars, teachers, and students of communication with more than 1,000 members throughout the United States and around the world. Information about WSCA can be found at www.westcomm.org.

Seventh annual Share Mardi Gras event Feb. 19

The seventh annual Share Mardi Gras Gala & Casino Night is from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 West Sixth St.

Tickets are $75 per person, which includes gaming scrip; a table of 10 can be purchased for $750. Event is black tie optional.

The evening includes a Cajun-style dinner and wine, casino-style gaming, and both a silent and live auction in support of Share.

Last year’s event grossed $137,000 to help people who are struggling with hunger and homelessness in Clark County.

Share was founded in 1979 with the goal of caring for the homeless and hungry in the greater Vancouver area.

“Soar with Books” story time returns to Pearson Feb. 5

“Soar with Books,” Pearson Air Museum’s toddler story time, will return at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the museum, 115 E. Fifth St. in Vancouver. It will continue the first Saturday of every month through Dec. 3. The story time includes an airplane-themed story under the wings of one of the vintage planes and a craft project.
