Historical Promotion Grants Program to be deferred until 2016
Friday, August 29, 2014The Board of Clark County Commissioners has decided to defer award of Historical Promotion Grants for one year. The grants, which typically are awarded at the end of the year, encourage historic preservation and programs, including preservation of historic documents. The program is paid for with a $1 recording fee on real estate documents, primarily. Unfortunately, revenues this year have been substantially lower than anticipated. To boost the health of the fund and program’s effectiveness, the Board has decided to suspend grant awards this year and allow the fund balance to grow. The board anticipates reopening the grant application process in the spring of 2015 and awarding historical promotion grants for 2016.
