Presentation on the Fort Vancouver garden Oct. 3

The Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County presents “The Fort Vancouver Garden Through the Seasons” on Tuesday, Oc.t 3. Guest speakers Robb Rosser and  Betty Stolz, are both Master Gardeners and Fort Vancouver volunteers. The presentation begins at 7 p.m., at the CASEE Center, Bldg. B, Rm. 202/205, 11104 NE 149th St. in Brush Prairie. No registration is required.

Attendees can expect a brief overview of the history of the original Hudson’s Bay Company Fort Vancouver garden, and the development of the current interpretive garden. A slide show will highlight the garden’s progression through the seasons, and show the gardening practices currently employed by garden volunteers, in keeping with the methods used and plants grown at the Fort in the 1840s.

Rosser has been a Master Gardener since 1996, and a Fort volunteer for the past three years. From 2000 through 2015 he authored “The Garden Life” column for The Columbian. Stoltz has been a Master Gardener since 2008, and has volunteered in the fort garden since 2011.
