Field trip to Columbia Springs for First Thursday with CCHM Sept. 7
Posted August 31, 2017The next First Thursday Museum After Hours with the Clark County Historical Museum will take place at Columbia Springs on Thursday, Sept. 7. Columbia Springs, a protected natural area which contributes to the city’s total tree canopy cover, filters stormwater before it reaches the Columbia River, and provides habitat for resident and migratory wildlife.
Columbia Springs is the historic site of the first lumber mill in the Pacific Northwest, and current home to the Vancouver Trout Hatchery, which was built in 1938 as part of the Works Progress Administration during Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal. This special First Thursday event will include a presentation on the history of Columbia Springs and a tour of the grounds.
