CCHM reveals the Secrets of Clark County’s past Nov. 6
Posted October 31, 2014Often thought of as an issue only in the southern United States, the Civil War’s legacy of racial discrimination and violence can be seen closer to home. On Nov. 6, at 7 p.m., join CCHM for the last “First Thursday” lecture of the year focusing on The KKK in Southwest Washington. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for children under 18 and free with membership. Doors will open at 5 p.m.
The speaker is Martin Middlewood, a museum research volunteer and professional freelance writer. He will explore the stories and secrets behind this controversial history of Clark County. The intention is to create an open and safe environment to discuss this delicate subject.
Middlewood is a freelancer of more than 20 years who writes about technology, energy, the environment, and healthcare for newspapers, trade and technology magazines. He is a board member of the Institute for Science Engineering and Public Policy, and is a past workshop leader for “Write Around Portland.” For more information and questions, email cchm@cchmuseum.org or call 360-993-5679.
