Share awarded $10,000 grant

Monday, July 31, 2017

Share has been awarded a $10,000 grant through Homestreet Bank’s Vote Your Heart campaign, held earlier this month. The Vote Your Heart campaign is a social media driven campaign piloted by Homestreet Bank, which nominates non-profit organizations that provide housing and/or basic needs to low to moderate-income individuals in their communities.

The July 5-16 voting period highlighted the Vancouver/Portland area with votes counted for Share or Second Step Housing. The non-profit with the most votes to be awarded $10,000, second place $5,000.

This is the second year of the Vote Your Heart campaign, which last year donated $159,000 to 26 charitable organizations in the Puget Sound region, Eastern Washington, Portland, Hawaii and California.

Monday, July 31, 2017

Ramps at Washington SR 500 and Thurston Way will close at 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, and reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, to allow for pavement work on Thurston Way. Contractors will be applying an asphalt rubberized chip seal and fog seal to Thurston Way, from Fourth Plain Blvd. to NE 51st St. The preservation treatment will remain tender for a time. Drivers are encouraged to drive slowly, which will help compact the surface and avoid problems with the fresh seal. Learn more at www.cityofvancouver.us/pavement.
