First Friday in downtown Camas Jan. 6
Thursday, December 29, 2016The theme for January’s First Friday in downtown Camas is “CLUE in Downtown Camas.” Friends and families are invited downtown next Friday, Jan. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. to find fun clues at participating merchants to solve the ” Case of the Missing Cookies.” Participants are entered to win prizes along the way, and those that solve the mystery will get a free special cookie from Cake Happy and an extra raffle ticket to win gift baskets.
Five lucky people throughout the evening will get a “Secret Passage” card to go straight to Cake Happy for an extra special treat. Those that dress up as any of the CLUE game characters get five extra tickets to win. As usual, extra tickets are also offered for every $10 spent downtown.
Always family-friendly, First Friday will have winter crafts for kids, and The Paint Roller Mobile Paint Party will be on hand doing free cool painting projects. Liberty theatre will cap the evening off with a showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s To To Catch A Thief. The 1955 film stars Cary Grant and Grace Kelly in a perfect blend of suspense and romance.
WSRP Chairman Susan Hutchison to provide keynote address at Republican Women’s Dinner Jan. 12
Thursday, December 29, 2016Clark County Republican Women (CCRW) invite the general public to attend their 2017 Installation of Officers and Gala on Thursday, Jan. 12. The event begins with a 6 p.m. social at Club Green Meadows, 7703 NE 72nd Ave. The dinner will feature keynote speaker Susan Hutchison, Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party.
New 2017 CCRW executive officers will also be installed. Executive board members recently elected include Connie Jo Freeman – President, Stacie Jesser – First Vice President, Liz Pike – Second Vice President, Anna Miller – Secretary, and Suzanne Gerhardt – Treasurer.
Admission cost for CCRW members is $24, non-members are $30. Members also receive automatic membership enrollment in the WA Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women.
Three positions open on the Telecommunications Commission
Thursday, December 29, 2016The City of Vancouver is seeking applicants to fill three positions on the city/county Telecommunications Commission. Citizens interested in volunteering to serve on this commission have until 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30, to apply. The commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and the Clark County Board of Councilors on matters relating to telecommunications and cable television. Vancouver’s New Year’s Eve: Masquerade in the Round Dec. 31
Thursday, December 29, 2016The city’s premiere end of the year party, Vancouver’s New Year’s Eve at the Hilton: Masquerade in the Round will whisk the audience into a world with music, dance, aerial acrobatics and many surprises that will leave everyone breathless and entertained. The event is Saturday, Dec. 31, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. The evening’s entertainment will be an electric and dazzling line up of artists. The Hilton’s Heritage Ballroom will be transformed into a specially designed showroom with state-of-the-art sound, lighting, staging and dance floor in the middle of the action where everyone can feel like they are a part of the show.
