Free prescription discount available for county residents
Friday, April 29, 2016Clark County residents can save money on prescription drugs by using the county’s free prescription discount program. Since the program started in late 2006, county residents received an average discount of nearly 27 percent on each prescription, which amounts to an average savings of $11.31 per prescription. So far, Clark County residents have saved a total of $3.16 million.
The National Association of Counties sponsors the prescription drug discount card program. The cards are free and may be used by all county residents regardless of age, income or existing health coverage. They are accepted at most pharmacies. A Spanish language version of the card is available.
Cards are available at city halls, libraries, participating pharmacies, C-Tran transit centers and some Clark County facilities. Residents can use the card any time insurance does not cover a prescription. There are no enrollment forms, restrictions or limits on how many times the card can be used. For more information, call 1-877-321-2652 or visit https://www.caremark.com/wps/myportal/FRAMED_CHECK_DRUG_COST.
