Political party observer training tonight at 6:30
Friday, May 30, 2014Clark County Elections will be hosting its annual political party observer training on this evening, June 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Elections Conference Room at 1408 Franklin St. in Vancouver. This observer training is for all persons interested in participating as a political party observer during an election cycle. No person shall serve as an observer unless he or she has received this training. Every election, the political parties assign certified citizens to witness various elections processes. While it is the duty of the political parties to appoint their observers, we also invite the general public to attend even though they might not be assigned as an official observer. Centurylink to match donations to Share’s Hunger Response Program June 2 through 6
Friday, May 30, 2014During the week of June 2 through 6, all cash and food donations directed to Share’s Hunger Response Program, will be matched up to 6:1 by CenturyLink as part of their “Feed the Children Backpack Buddies Food Drive.” In 2013, this challenge raised $271,334 for Share.
“CenturyLink is honored to once again partner with Share in our annual food drive,” says Martin Flynn, marketing & public relations manager at CenturyLink. “With the combined contributions of CenturyLink’s local employees, the citizens of Clark County and local businesses, we hope to surpass last year’s success to help feed hungry children in our community.”

Food donations can be delivered Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., to the Share Fromhold Service Center, 2306 NE Andresen Road. Free movie to benefit Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation tomorrow
Friday, May 30, 2014Everyone is invited to a free screening of Hugo at 11 a.m. this Saturday, May 31, at Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St. in Vancouver. Ten percent of concession sales concession sales will be donated back to the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation to support library programs and services.
Directed by Martin Scorsese, Hugo is a 2011 3D historical adventure film based on Brian Selznick‘s novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret about a boy who lives alone in a railway station in Paris. The film won five Oscars—for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing—and earned eleven nominations. It also won two BAFTAs and was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards.
