Annual “Art in the Barn” sale at the Manor Grange Nov. 30
Wednesday, November 27, 2013The public is welcome to “Art in the Barn” craft fair Saturday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Manor Grange, 17901 N.E. 72 Ave. in Battle Ground. Local artists will be selling clay art, wreaths, winter decor, fused glass, whimsical topiaries, plants for the garden, watercolors, fiber art, oil paintings and more. Guests can enjoy free soup and bread, along with an assortment of desserts. The event is sponsored by Clark County Interest Group of the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon. Local 4-Her wins statewide Young Adult Leadership Award
Wednesday, November 27, 2013Vancouver resident Melissa Brown has been awarded with the Heather Rider Leadership Award for Young Adults, at the recent 4-H statewide Leaders Forum held in Vancouver. This award, created in Heather Rider’s honor by the State 4-H Advisory Board, seeks to recognize a young person 19-22 years of age for their 4-H involvement past and present at the club, county, regional, state, and/or national levels. Heather Rider was an exceptional young woman who touched many lives in her 4-H career before her life was cut short in 2005.
Melissa Brown was a 4-H member in Clark County for 11 years. In addition to her leadership work in Clark County, Brown was involved in various statewide leadership roles, which included Clark County teen representative and facilitator, SW District Teen Rally chair, SW District Teen representative to the State 4-H Advisory Board, State Ambassador, 4-H State Teen Conference Planning Committee member, Know Your Government delegate and facilitator, LABO-4-H International Japanese Exchange Student and host family, and ultimately a 4-H National Congress delegate.
RTC board meets Dec. 3
Wednesday, November 27, 2013The next Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council (RTC) board of directors meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m., in the 6th floor Training Room of the Clark County Public Service Center, 1200 Franklin St. in Vancouver.
