Art on the Boulevard will open Elizabeth Ganji’s solo show At A Crossroads on First Friday Apr. 5. The exhibit features Ganji’s latest works of oil and pastel paintings that represent a year of daily painting. With the profusion of change and events a year can bring, each of these paintings has emerged and met her where she was during that particular moment in time, creating a diverse and well-rounded exhibition.

“My intention in painting is not to execute a picture perfect duplicate of what I see in nature, but instead to pick out what it was about the subject that generated a spark inside me, and attempt to paint the essence of that spark,” says Ganji. “I like my work to feel chaotic and raw when the viewer stands close and for the piece to slowly start taking shape as the viewer withdraws.”

The First Friday reception runs from 5 to 9 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The event includes complimentary light refreshments, live music, and a chance to meet the artist. Art on the Boulevard is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on First Fridays until 9 p.m. For further information, contact the gallery at 360-750-4499, or visit www.artontheboulevard.org.
