YWCA Clark County seeks volunteers; free training Sept. 11Posted August 20, 2012
YWCA Clark County is currently seeking volunteers to start in September. Those who are interested should attend the free “Introduction to Volunteer Service” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the YWCA Community Room, 3609 Main St., Vancouver. No RSVP is needed. YWCA needs volunteers to advocate for adult and youth victim-survivors of sexual assault, advocate for victim-survivors of domestic violence, provide encouragement and information about community resources to women in jail, and represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system. Other opportunities include helping in a preschool classroom and assisting youth who are aging out of foster care. There is an especially urgent need for male volunteers and volunteers who are fluent in Spanish.
