Vancouver Police Chief Clifford Cook resignsPosted July 13, 2012
Earlier today, Vancouver City Manager Eric Holmes announced the resignation of Police Chief Clifford Cook. Over recent months, Cook and Holmes have been discussing the future of the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), including ongoing operational, fiscal, and cultural issues. The manager and chief reached the mutual realization that charting the next chapter for VPD will require a fresh leadership approach. Holmes accepted Chief Cook’s resignation, effective Sept. 1. Holmes will bring in an experienced law enforcement professional to serve as Vancouver’s interim police chief and will soon open a search for a permanent chief. A celebration of Chief Cook’s service to Vancouver will be held before his departure, with details to be announced.
