The Joy Team enlivens this evening’s commutePosted May 25, 2012
Kids and adults from The Joy Team will perk up today’s evening commute on the northernmost pedestrian bridge on I-5, between Rosa Parks and Lombard. The only agenda is to spread some joy to people stuck in traffic on their commute home before a holiday weekend. The Joy Team will be there during peak traffic hours, 3 to 6 p.m., waving handmade signs with encouraging messages to cheer passing commuters.
Founded in February 2010, The Joy Team is a Vancouver-based nonprofit corporation with the mission of spreading joy, optimism, and inspiration. The Joy Team helps people shift into a positive frame of mind through the power of positive words. In 2010, the team put up 28 billboards with encouraging messages. In 2011, the group headed up a “sidewalk chalk” day involving people in three countries and 22 U.S. states. The Junior Joy Team, for children ages five to 12, was established this year.
