Rocksolid Community Teen Center, 12919 N.E. 159th St. in Brush Prairie, recently received two grants from The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington. The first grant, for $8,000, will help Rocksolid’s “Life Altering Program.” The grant will provide computers and equipment to Rocksolid, enabling the mentors and volunteers to work with students to enhance their knowledge and capabilities in marketing, computer technology, community gardening, physical fitness, and academic subjects. The second grant, for $4,000, will help Rocksolid expand the R.O.C.K. (Really Outrageous Concerned Kids) program, a peer-to-peer program designed to train students in suicide prevention and preventing abuse of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
