One of Clark County’s two new parks will officially open Saturday as the Felida Neighborhood Association cuts a ceremonial ribbon at Sorenson Neighborhood Park. The event begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the park along NW 26th Ave. at NW 109th St. The Felida Neighborhood Association has organized the event and selected five speakers:

  • Julie Olson, Clark County councilor
  • Bill Bjerke, Clark County parks manager
  • Barbara Anderson, co-chair of the Clark County Parks Advisory Board
  • Milada Allen, president of the Felida Neighborhood Association
  • A.J. Sallee, co-chair of the neighborhood association’s Sorenson Park Committee

The ceremony is scheduled for 30 minutes. The dedication will go on rain or shine, so attendees should dress for the weather and bring umbrellas, if necessary. A reception will follow at The Backstairs at Felida Village on NW 36th Ave. at NW 119 St.

The second park, Tower Crest Neighborhood Park in East Minnehaha, will be completed next month. Clark County has built 30 parks since voters created the Greater Clark Parks District in 2005. The district encompasses the urban unincorporated area outside Vancouver.
