National Get Outdoors Day, free admission at Fort Vancouver June 9Posted June 7th, 2012
Bring the family to the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site Visitor Center on Saturday, June 9, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and celebrate National Get Outdoors Day. Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl, and Ranger Rick will be on hand to meet guests. Drawings for prizes will occur during the day with a chance to win a grand prize worth $500 donated by REI. Bring the kids to catch some fish for dinner, conquer the climbing wall, try archery and disc golf, or cook over a campfire, just as the people who built Fort Vancouver did. This year’s event is a blend of Get Outdoors Day and two National Park Service events, NW National Park Family Day and the Brigade Encampment. National Get Outdoors Day is also a national “fee-free” day, and entrance to the Fort will be free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Learn more by clicking here, here and here.
