Major work on N.E. 88th St. begins July 2Posted June 26th, 2012
Monday, July 2, marks the beginning of construction on a project to widen a 1.7-mile section of N.E. 88th St. in Hazel Dell. The Board of County Commissioners awarded an $11.7 million contract to Rotschy Inc. to improve the street from Hwy. 99 east to N.E. St. Johns Road. The project is expected to create more than 100 local jobs. Construction will be in three phases, with workers concentrating on one road section and, when possible, leaving the rest open to traffic. Rotschy intends to complete the Hwy. 99-to-N.E. 25th Ave. section this fall. The entire project is expected to be finished in Oct. 2013. Inside the construction zone, the street will be closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles, school buses, and private vehicles for those who have no other way to reach homes or businesses. Drivers who must enter the construction zone should expect delays. All other traffic should detour to N.E. 78th St. More information is available here.
