Legendary jazz Clarinetist Ken Peplowski to play at VSO benefit March 25

A jazz legend returns to Vancouver for a memorable evening at the exquisite Royal Oaks Country Club on Saturday, March 25. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra second annual Evening of Jazz features the extraordinary jazz clarinetist and saxophonist Ken Peplowski.

From the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Benny Goodman Band, to Dixieland and jazz, the award-winning Peplowski has played with legendary musicians from Mel Torme and Peggy Lee to Madonna and Woody Allen. His life on the road has taken him from small clubs to the Hollywood Bowl, headlining in Las Vegas, the Newport Jazz Festival, pops concerts, and European festivals.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. Royal Oaks Country Club will be transformed into the quintessential Jazz Supper Club of the 1940’s and 50’s, complete with classic cars and cigar girls. Guests will stroll down the red carpet lined with concert posters of jazz legends and into the club, where they will be offered a signature Jazztini before enjoying a prime rib dinner, wine and dancing. A Steinway piano will be donated by Michelle’s Piano Company in Portland.

Tickets are $100, a portion of which is tax deductible. Proceeds from this event benefit The VSO’s Education Initiative, focusing on extensive music education outreach programs that serve to empower students, educators and adults in our community. Tickets are available now at vancouversymphony.org or by calling 360-735-7278.
