Girl Scout cookies go on sale today in Washington, OregonPosted February 17th, 2012
Girl Scouts’ cookie sales kick off today at locations around the state. In celebration of the Girl Scouts’ centennial, local troops have set a goal to sell 2.012 million boxes of cookies by March 11. Joining the cookie lineup is the new anniversary cookie, “Savannah Smiles,” a lemon cookie that was created in honor of Girl Scouts’ founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthplace of Savannah, Georgia. Girl Scouts are encouraging fans to make use of the online cookie locator, www.girlscoutsosw.org, or downloadable phone app, www.girlscoutsosw.org/events/cookies, to find the nearest cookie booths. Selling cookies is directly related to Girl Scouts’ goal of helping all girls realize their full potential and become strong, confident and resourceful citizens. Girl Scout alumnae make up 80 percent of female executives and business owners, and two-thirds of women serving in the U.S. Congress. To learn more, visit girlscoutsosw.org.
