The WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program will offer a workshop on the basics for successful fruit tree care on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 pm. Refreshments and handouts will be provided, but interested parties should bring a sack lunch.

Monica Maggio, of Core Home Fruit Services, will share the ten most important things for ensuring healthy trees and an abundant harvest here in the Pacific Northwest. The morning lecture includes: Site requirements & prep, how to select a good tree, general care & maintenance requirements of different fruits, pollination needs, common pests, and more.

The January workshop is one of a four-part series. February 1 is Fruit Tree Pruning; March 15 is Fruit Tree Grafting: Bench Grafting and Top Working; and April 19 is Seasonal Maintenance for Fruit Trees. The cost is $45 each or $160 for the whole series.
