Free clarinet recital with Scott Wright March 29Posted March 21st, 2012
Scott Wright, professor of clarinet at University of Kentucky (UKY), will perform a recital at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, at Union High School, 6201 N.W. Friberg-Strunk St. in Camas. Admission is free. Wright will be accompanied by Linda Halloin. Wright’s repertoire is extensive, including both traditional and new music. Wright earned his masters and doctorate degrees from Arizona State University, where he collaborated with Robert Spring to present a clinic titled “Extreme Clarinet” at the International Clarinet Association Conference. Equally at home with graduate clarinet majors or beginning band students, Wright taught middle school band for ten years between the time he earned his bachelor’s degree and moving on to college teaching at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. He now teaches the clarinet studio at UKY and serves on the faculty of several summer music camps, including the popular Young Musicians and Artists at Willamette University for middle and high school students.
