Four Vancouver Public Schools recognized for educational excellencePosted June 26, 2012
Vancouver Public Schools will be well represented among the State Recognition Award recipients at an upcoming conference of the Washington State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Four Vancouver schools will receive top honors: Minnehaha Elementary School (Safe School Award), Vancouver School of Arts and Academics (Student Engagement Award), Skyview High School (Challenged Students Award), and McLoughlin Middle School (Supported Students Award). Educators from communities throughout the state will recognize the winning school principals and representatives of their staffs at a luncheon in Seattle on Oct. 11, according to Superintendent Steve Webb. Washington ASCD sponsors this award program in support of ASCD Worldwide and The Whole Child Initiative. State Recognition Awards are given to schools with outstanding programs that exemplify one or more of the five tenets of the initiative: safe, healthy, engaged, supported, and challenged students.
