Federal funds sought for emergency road repairsPosted March 30, 2012
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is applying for emergency federal funds to repair highways in Clark County damaged by landslides. WSDOT crews will soon begin repairs on SR 501 near Ridgefield. The state’s application for emergency federal funds follows Gov. Chris Gregoire’s March 23 proclamation of a state of emergency due to rain and windstorms. On SR 501, heavy rains and snowmelt caused a landslide in February. The slide opened a hole in the eastbound shoulder and damaged a short section of guardrail and asphalt curb. WSDOT continues to monitor the slide area and plans repairs in April.
