Evergreen Habitat for Humanity plans weekend of servicePosted September 2nd, 2011
Evergreen Habitat for Humanity is hosting several events on Saturday, Sept. 10, and Sunday, Sept. 11, as part of a National Day of Service in remembrance of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The projects are intended to revive the sense of unity and compassion exemplified by Americans following the incidents.
On Saturday, a coalition of Christian, Jewish and Muslim congregations will participate in an interfaith cleanup, refurbishing the properties of two low-income homeowners in the Shumway neighborhood of Vancouver.
The symbolic ground breaking for the “Women Build” home, a home constructed by all-women construction teams, is planned for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 1027 W. 39th St. in Vancouver.
Since 1991, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity has worked to improve living conditions for low-income Clark County residents. For more information, visit www.ehfh.org.
