Enthusiastic campers needed for Mt. St. Helens “Volunteer Vacation”Posted June 20, 2012
The Mount St. Helens Ranger District is recruiting for individuals or couples with a motorhome or travel trailer to volunteer as campground hosts for the 2012 summer season. The position requires camping at Lower Falls Campground on the upper North Fork Lewis River along Forest Road 90, 30 miles east of Cougar, Washington. Volunteers would assist with visitor information, restroom cleaning, and light campground maintenance. The Mount St. Helens Ranger District is part of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Located in the Cascade Mountains northeast of Vancouver, Mount St. Helens offers beautiful scenery and a variety of recreational opportunities. The area is popular with photographers, hikers, horsemen, kayakers, mountain climbers, anglers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. Hosts are asked to make a commitment of at least 30 days, but full season positions are available. Volunteers must be present on weekends.
