County seeks comments on park code updates before public hearing Aug. 21Posted August 3rd, 2012
Clark County is gathering public comments on proposed changes to the park code. Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation will review comments received by Thursday, Aug. 16, to prepare a report for the Board of County Commissioners. The commissioners will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, on the sixth-floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. If approved, changes would include prohibiting tobacco use in designated parts of parks, revising the Park and Facility Use Permit process, and excluding repeat offenders from parks. Law enforcement would have an alternative to misdemeanor charges punishable by a fine and/or jail. The full text of the proposed changes and a fact sheet are available at www.vanclarkparks-rec.org. Paper copies are available at the Public Service Center first-floor information desk. For alternate formats or other accommodations, contact Parks and Rec at 360-487-8311 (WA Relay: 711).
