Clark County under Fire Weather Watch until Aug. 17Posted August 15, 2012
The National Weather Service Portland has issued a “Fire Weather Watch” affecting Skamania, Clark, and Cowlitz Counties. The watch went into effect at 11 a.m. this morning and will continue until 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17. The lack of rain over the past couple months, drier fuels, and the increased heat create the perfect conditions for fires to start. Residents should be on the look-out for situations that may lead to wildfire. If you are working outside with machinery or anything that could cause a spark, you should have a water source or extinguisher nearby.
