Clark County is No. 1 in Washington for certified green schools

Washington Green Schools recently honored Clark County for having more certified green schools than any county in the state, with 68 schools participating in the program and 38 schools certified. Almost 300 schools in Washington participate in the program. Schools form Green Teams of students, staff, administrators and, sometimes, parents. To become certified, schools must complete requirements in at least one environmental category. Teams tackle a project, complete assessments, make lasting changes and measure results. Categories cover energy, healthy buildings, transportation, waste and recycling, water and school grounds. Clark County and area schools were recognized recently during the annual Green Schools Summit in Vancouver.
