Clark College Winter Faculty Speaker Series Feb. 13Posted February 10th, 2014
Clark College‘s renowned Faculty Speaker Series will feature “Habari Gani?” (What’s Happening?) presented by Professor Debi Jenkins from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. She will describe how many employees from historically disadvantaged communities feel disconnected from their workplaces. Using current research and her own scholarship, Jenkins will create a framework for supporting workplace diversity based on the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa.
“My research focuses on higher education, but really these are practices that could be incorporated into any workplace interested in fostering diversity,” says Jenkins. “I want people to ask themselves, ‘What is [my] role as an individual to support a diverse workforce?’”
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Ellis Dunn Community Room, Gaiser Hall room 213, at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.
