Clark College Fall Jazz Ensemble Concert Nov. 16
This Friday Nov. 16, Clark College will present its Fall Jazz Ensemble Concert featuring the Clark College Jazz Ensemble, the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics (VSAA) High School Jazz Ensemble, and special guest artist, Chuck Redd. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in Gaiser Hall Theater, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way in Vancouver. It is free and open to the public.
Redd is an accomplished drummer and vibraphonist from Washington D.C. He joined the Charlie Byrd Trio in 1980 at the age of 21. His most noteworthy performances include an appearance with the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet in Africa for the Namibian Independence Day Celebration, a recital at the White House with the Barney Kessel Trio, concerts at Carnegie Hall with Mel Torme, and the Tonight Show. He was the 2004-2005 Artist-In-Residence at The Smithsonian Jazz Café in Washington, D.C.
In addition to performing, he has presented educational workshops and lectures around the country. He will be featured throughout the evening as a soloist on both drums and vibraphone. For more information, visit www.clark.edu/news_events/.
