Clark College cooking instructor honored at Oregon’s Chef of the Year dinner
George Akau, cooking instructor at Clark College, was honored at the Chef de Cuisine Society of Oregon’s annual Chef of the Year dinner on Oct. 16. Akau was honored as Chef Emeritus for his many years of service to the chefs’ society. Akau has served for over twenty years on the society’s board of directors. He has also been the chairman for several governor’s dinners and, in 1983, was selected as the Chef of the Year. Akau is a member of the Academy of Chefs, a select group of chefs with only a few thousand members in the United States. Akau has been an instructor at Clark College for 37 years.
