Battle Ground Councilmember Bill Ganley earns recognition

??????????After twelve years, 1,500 fire hydrants, and vast quantities of yellow paint, Battle Ground Councilmember Bill Ganley was recognized for his summer pastime – painting the City’s fire hydrants. Ganley’s profession as a high school teacher afforded him a few weeks each of the last 12 summers to volunteer his time to paint every one of the City’s 730 fire hydrants – twice over. At the October 20 City Council meeting, Public Works Director Scott Sawyer and maintenance worker Mike Wilcock, recognized Ganley’s volunteerism by presenting him with a fire hydrant on wheels, complete with staff signatures and a plaque commemorating his years of service to the Fire Hydrant Maintenance Program. Councilmember Ganley is the longest serving member of the Battle Ground City Council. He was first elected to office in 1993 and is serving his sixth consecutive term.
