Valentine’s Day popcorn benefits Meals on Wheels

Looking for a great Valentine’s Day gift? Purchase Meals on Wheels Delivers! Popcorn, and your purchase will help provide nutritious meals to homebound elderly throughout the greater Portland-Vancouver metro area. Popcorn is available in salted butter toffee, white cheddar or double chocolate.

Eight and 16 ounce bags, or a two-pound decorative tin are available. Order by Feb. 8 to ensure delivery by Valentine’s Day. NWABA hosts back-to back camps for children with visual impairments

Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) will be hosting two Camp Abilities camps this year. Camp Abilities offers a one-week comprehensive, developmental sports camp for children and youth with visual impairments. The camp provides 1:2 instructional situations for each child.

Camp Abilities Oregon will be held at the Linfield College campus in McMinnville, from July 22 to July 27. This camp will accept 40 youth ages eight to 15. Camp Abilities Washington will be hosted at University of Puget Sound’s campus from July 29 to August 3. This camp is accepting 20 youth ages eight to 14.

Registration for both camps opens on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 8 a.m. Visit www.nwaba.org to fill out electronic registration forms. Campers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Additionally, NWABA is also accepting applications for Camp counselors for both camps, which can be found online as well.

Open House at St. Joseph Catholic School Jan. 28

Parents and families are invited to St. Joseph Catholic School for an open house any time from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28. The school teaches pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. St. Joe’s offers small class sizes to emphasize individual attention; a Cardinal Preschool program for those ages three to five; a curriculum which includes core subjects as well as PE, Spanish, art and technology, and extra-curricular activities such as field trips, CYO sports, and after-school programs. Tuition assistance is available for qualifying families. The open house is for the 2018-2019 school year. Attendees can meet the teachers, tour the campus, and more.
