Thursday, December 7, 2017

Join Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum and Wave Business for Wave Day, this Saturday, Dec. 9, to hear the stories of people and planes that have contributed to aviation and aerospace history. The Historical Perspectives Kiosk is an exhibit presenting museum visitors with video stories from various Oregonians related to aviation, space, military, or an era represented at the museum.

Visitors can have personal photo opportunities with these “historical figures”, VIP Access to the SR-71 Blackbird, Lear 25, & F-84 Thunderjet, and experience a kids activity area. Adults can taste wines including the Spruce Goose Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Admission for this event is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for youth 5-16. Children under five years of age, museum members and Wave Business employees are free. Admission price does not include movie, as the theater is closed for another event.

Jim Mains presents fourth annual Christmas on Franklin St. Dec. 16 – Jan. 1

Thursday, December 7, 2017

Now in its fourth year, “Christmas on Franklin St.” returns to Vancouver beginning Saturday, Dec. 16. Every evening from 5 to 10 p.m., through Jan. 1, six properties on the 4000 block of NW Franklin St. will be decorated with over 25,000 Christmas lights.

This year the displays include Santa’s sleigh and eight life-size reindeer, life-size Santa with Rudolph on the roof, a full nativity scene with a Christmas message, the Grinch in an old pick up truck, Frosty the Snowman and caroling penguins. Anna, Elsa and Olaf from the movie Frozen are back, including fellow snowmen and an ice-themed display surrounding them.

In an upstairs window each night until Christmas Eve, Santa will appear and wave to the people outside. This year  “Christmas on Franklin Street” is collecting canned food for local food banks. This special collection is in memory of the late Scott Campbell, community leader and lover of all things Christmas. Drop non-perishable items off in the pink bin from now until Christmas Day.

“Snow” will fall on Dec. 16, 17, 22 and 23 at 7 p.m., on Christmas Eve from 4 p.m. to midnight, and Christmas Day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
