Free Clinic receives grant from Northwest Natural Gas Company

Friday, October 20, 2017

The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington has received a $2,500 grant from the Northwest Natural Gas Company to help fund x-ray services. In the most recent fiscal year, the Free Clinic completed 377 x-rays for low-income, uninsured patients. X-rays let the clinic’s volunteer providers understand the severity of a complaint or injury and treat it properly. The images are read by community radiologists, who partner with the Free Clinic in providing patient care. Providers use the images to diagnose conditions ranging from arthritis to lung cancer and prescribe appropriate courses of treatment. Getting an x-ray and receiving needed care often means that patients can remain at or return to work. It helps them preserve their livelihood and be healthy, productive participants in the community.
