Columbia Theatre presents “The Commanders” Aug. 21

Wednesday, August 16, 2017

The Columbia Theatre will present a performance by The Commanders on Monday, Aug. 21. The Commanders, a newly-revived ensemble coming from the U.S, Air Force Band of the Golden West, carries on the American musical tradition of the great big bands, yet offers a lot more than the big band sounds.

This energetic group of highly-trained professional musicians, formed from 18 Airman, delivers the full gamut of jazz music – traditional jazz, cool, bop, swing, Broadway favorites, and patriotic music. A typical evening ranges from classic favorites like Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Count Basie, and Dizzy Gillespie, to the sounds of today’s modern jazz groups.

The concert is free and family-friendly. Columbia Theater is located at 1231 Vandercook Way in Longview. For more information and to purchase tickets, call 360-575-8499 or visit the box office. To learn more about upcoming events at Columbia Theater, visit www.columbiatheatre.com.
