Yappy Hour at Mill Creek Pub this afternoon

Mill Creek Pub invites dogs and their people to a Yappy Hour fundraiser for DOGPAW today, Tuesday, Aug. 15. From 2 to 5 p.m., Mill Creek will have special treats for the pups and special cocktails and happy hour menu for their owners. Volunteers from DOGPAW will be onsite to provide updates on the nonprofit’s efforts to save off-leash parks in Clark County, and to share its new membership levels. Mill Creek Pub is located at 1710 SW Ninth Ave. in Battle Ground.

Liz Pike’s annual Hootennany Fundraiser Aug. 18

State Representative Liz Pike, (R-Camas) is inviting the public to attend her seventh annual Hootenanny on Friday, Aug. 18. The annual campaign fundraiser begins at 6 p.m., at Shangri-La Farm. Each year, guests enjoy a fabulous “Western BBQ Cowboy Dinner” and homemade pie. Cowboy attire is encouraged.

Chicken Bingo begins at 8 p.m. Guests park at the rented parking lot at Grove Field Airport in Fern Prairie, 632 NE 267th Ave. in Camas. Follow a foot trail through the woods to Shangri-La Farm or take the free Lincoln Continental shuttle service directly to the farm.

There is a suggested minimum donation of $50 per adult, but any amount of contribution is greatly appreciated. Children are free. Magenta Improv Theater Aug. 19

Magenta Improv Theater (MIT) returns for another night of family-friendly improv this Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Magenta Theater, 1108 Main St. in downtown Vancouver. In a unique version of Who’s Line is it Anyway?, the show will feature some old favorite games and a few new tricks. This show will feature Tony Provenzola in his solo-hosting debut.

The MIT players are adults and teens, and the shows are always clean and family-friendly. Audience participation is voluntary, and nobody will be called on unless he or she signals a desire to participate. The MIT players’ goal is simply to deliver a fun, laughter-filled evening.

Green Business Morning Blend at Cadet Aug. 17

Clark County Public Health’s Green Business Program will hold the next free Morning Blend networking event from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Cadet, 2500 W Fourth Plain Blvd. In March, Cadet received the 2017 Large Green Business of the Year award for its waste reduction and recycling programs, which led to a 60 percent reduction in landfilled waste.

Morning Blend is an opportunity to learn about Cadet’s operational sustainability initiatives from members of its green team, who will discuss ongoing efforts to recycle as much as possible and eliminate waste. Anyone interested in networking and learning about green business practices is welcome.
