PeaceHealth awards $49,000 in scholarships

The PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation recently awarded $49,000 in scholarships to 23 PeaceHealth Southwest caregivers, junior volunteers and adult volunteers. These scholarships are made possible by the generosity of many, including PeaceHealth caregivers and community donors. The foundation awarded 19 scholarships from the Health Career Scholarship Fund. Williams joins board of free clinic of Southwest Washington

Sally Williams, MD has joined the board of directors of the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington. Williams has 20 years of practice in infectious disease with The Vancouver Clinic. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Ball State University and an MD degree from the University of Cincinnati. Williams has volunteered with the Free Clinic as an urgent care physician since 2002. 142nd Fighter Wing to conduct temporary night flying operations

The Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing will conduct routine F-15 night training missions tonight, Wednesday, July 12 and Thursday, July 13. Night training allows the Citizen-Airmen pilots based at the Portland Air National Guard Base to stay current with mandatory Air Force requirements. Night flying is conducted almost monthly as it provides essential training for nighttime maneuvers. Training flights will be completed each evening before 10:30 p.m.

Riverview Six to Sunset Concerts continue this Thursday with Nu Shooz

The Riverview Community Bank Six to Sunset Concerts continue this Thursday, July 13, with Nu Shooz. The free concerts run Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., at Esther Short Park through August 10. 

Nu Shooz is an American Freestyle-R&B-Dance group fronted by husband-and-wife team John Smith and Valerie Day, and based in Portland. After a lengthy hiatus from the world of music, the husband and wife team are back on the road as part of the Super Freestyle Explosion Tour with a live eight piece band.

Visitors can bring a lawn chair or blanket and a picnic dinner, or purchase food from vendors in the park. Smoking, alcohol and BBQ grills are not permitted in the park. To learn more about the series, click here.
