CALEA accreditation team invites public comment June 13

Clark County Sheriff Chuck E. Atkins has announced that a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive on Sunday, June 11. CALEA will examine all aspects of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Verification by the team that the Clark County Sheriff’s Office meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation for a 31st consecutive year–a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.

As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Tuesday, June 13, at 4:30 p.m., in the County Council Hearing Room Sixth Floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. Comments may also be made by calling 360 397-2417 on Monday, June 12, between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. For more information regarding CALEA, call 703-352-4225 or www.calea.org.

Local contracting association seeking proposals for first SWCA Construction Executive Summit

The Southwest Washington Contractors Association has announced the first Construction Executive Summit, presented by RSV Building Solutions. The event will be held on Feb. 15, 2018, at Warehouse 23’. The association is seeking seasoned speakers to propose topics relevant to the construction industry.

The one-day summit will provide an opportunity for executive-level business leaders in the contracting industry to expand their professional networks and gain new knowledge to aid in business growth. Topics of interest include: leadership, business transitions, acquisition, safety, and government contracting.

Competitive speakers will aim to educate local contractors, and the businesses that support the industry, on relevant topics related to business vision, growth, and future. Interested speakers can find proposal forms online at www.swca.org/summit. Forms must be submitted by June 30, to be considered.

Battle Ground HealthCare awarded grant from Lewis River Rotary

Lewis River Rotary presented Battle Ground HealthCare (BGHC) with a $2,000 grant for BGHC’s plumbing needs. The Rotary grant will be significant in covering the cost of adding a new toilet, sink and laundry facilities for the clinic’s ongoing growth. As Battle Ground HealthCare Rehabilitation Services grow, their plumbing needs are an issue they have put at the top of their list to be addressed. The newly opened Rehabilitation Services officially launched January of 2017, and added a powerful resource to Battle Ground HealthCare’s lineup of free chronic healthcare services. For more information, battlegroundhealthcare.org.
