YWCA Clark County begins new volunteer training on Sept. 3
Monday, August 31, 2015New volunteer applications are currently being accepted for the upcoming volunteer training cycle, which begins this Thursday, Sept. 3. YWCA Clark County volunteers are partners in the mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Opportunities include providing advocacy and support to survivors of sexual assault, representing the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system, and supporting the safety and healing of families experiencing domestic violence. YWCA is especially interested in expanding the number of volunteers with the Sexual Assault Program. Application, interview and pre-registration for fall training is required. Nonprofit Excellence Awards Sept. 8
Monday, August 31, 2015Local nonprofit organizations and businesses will be honored on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Nonprofit Excellence Awards sponsored by the Nonprofit Network Southwest Washington. The awards reception, which is presented by PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation, will be held from 5 to p.m. at the Heathman Lodge, 7801 NE Greenwood Dr. Additional sponsors are Vancouver Energy, and Riverview Community Bank.
“Local residents invest their time, their dollars, and their talent into nonprofits every day, all focused on improving our community,” says Nonprofit Network Executive Director Jeanne Kojis. “This is the fifth year for the Excellence Awards, and once again we have outstanding finalists who demonstrate what can be done when people come together for a common cause. The Awards Reception is not only for finalists, it is a celebration of community change and a great networking event.”
