The theme for First Friday in Downtown Camas is “Spring into History!”—a celebration of Camas history and the coming of Spring. The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. this Friday, Apr. 3. Wear a vintage hat or clothes or something made out of paper and get a free ticket to enter to win prizes from the merchants. Shoppers will also receive an extra ticket for every $10 spent in downtown Camas that day.

“Where can you find Camas lilies in bloom in the spring? When did our bronze girl get her new book? How did we get our big, beautiful trees on Fourth Ave? Why do we have a Prune Hill?” These are just a few of the history questions answered during the “History Hunt” activity in participating businesses. This game allows people to discover interesting Camas history and collect needed facts to be entered to win prizes from the downtown merchants. History Hunt and the evening’s activity lists can be found in participating stores, at the Downtown Camas Association (DCA) table at the Chamber of Commerce office, and at the Second Story Gallery.

Visitors can also enjoy a toilet paper toss as a tribute to the mill, guess the “Spring Eggs” jar—closest guess wins a prize, see historic photos and hear tales of early Camas from Brent Erickson, a legacy square game, live music, and more. Learn more at www.downtowncamas.org.
