Public input sought for the future of parks and recreation programs through Oct. 13

Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation is seeking public input about the future of parks and recreation programs and services in Clark County and the City of Vancouver. The department is updating the city and county’s six-year comprehensive parks, recreation and open space plan to reflect the community’s current priorities and vision. Key questions include:

    • What are we doing well and what should we do differently?
    • What are your priorities?
    • What legacy should we leave for future generations?
    • How can we best serve the community with limited resources

Input is being accepted via an online survey, community drop in events and small group meetings. To view the current schedule of drop-in events and meetings, or to take the online survey, click here or call 360-487-8353. Online survey responses will be accepted through Oct. 13.

“Concert for the Innocent” tomorrow

Defenders USA and Shared Hope International will present a “Concert for the Innocent” tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 31, from noon to 6 p.m., at Marshall Park, 1009, E. McLoughlin Blvd. in Vancouver. The concert will feature local Portland and Vancouver bands, dunk tanks, a bouncy house, face painting and more. Mike Macintosh from Horizon Christian Fellowship will speak. Proceeds will benefit local nonprofits working to prevent child sex trafficking and exploitation. CCHM seeks volunteers for 10th annual “Harvest Fun Day”

The Clark County Historical Museum is looking for volunteers to help out at the 10th annual “Harvest Fun Day,”  from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the 78th Street Heritage Farm, 1919 NE 78 Street, in Hazel Dell. The expected attendance is over 3,000. Volunteers can help families make scarecrows and paint pumpkins; volunteers are also needed to facilitate the pie-eating and corn-shucking contests, paint kids’ faces with simple designs, and for miscellaneous labor. Volunteers can work from either 9 a.m., to 12:30 p.m., or from noon to 3:30 p.m. Interested parties can contact Karen at 360-993-5679 or info@cchmuseum.org.
