Wells wins first Valeria Award
Brian Wells In 2009, Affordable Community Environments created the Valeria Award to honor founding Board member Val Ogden upon her retirement from the board of directors. The award honors those who have made major contributions to the health and strength of Affordable Community Environments and furthered its mission to provide safe, beautiful, sustainable affordable housing. It also recognizes those ACE supporters that embody the generous spirit of founding Board Member Valeria Ogden who, according to ACE, provided incredible vision, compassion and leadership. On Thursday, July 22, at ACE’s Third Annual Raise Your Hat to Housing fundraising event, Brian Wells was honored at the first recipient of the Valeria Award. "There was no doubt in our minds who we felt was most deserving of this award,” ACE Board chair Bryan Cole said at the event. Cole described Wells’ history with ACE, which began more than 12 years ago, as the owner of Vancouver-based TEAM Construction. He was the only general contractor willing to look at the fledgling nonprofit’s Covington Commons project. ACE and TEAM Construction have most recently partnered on the renovation of a low-income apartment community in Washougal renamed Gateway Garden Apartments. “Hooked” fundraiser planned for Columbia Springs
